O čem je Asteroid Kassandra?
Profesor Lehman na své mexické observatoři zjistí, že Zemi brzy zničí dopad asteroidu Kassandra, který je třikrát větší než Mount Everest a větší než meteorit, který způsobil vyhynutí dinosaurů. Cestou domů se profesor bohužel zabije při autonehodě. Jediný, kdo může zachránit ohrožený svět, je profesorova asistentka Imogen. Navzdory hrozící katastrofě a výkyvům počasí musí co nejdříve doručit profesorovy výpočty do řídicího centra, aby zabránila blížící se apokalypse... Mezitím se paralelně odvíjí příběh detektiva Jacka Crowea, který je obviněn z vraždy své ženy. Obviní ho její bývalý partner Calvin Stark, který unesl Jackovu dceru Jenny a rozhodl se, že Jack bude trpět. Těžce to nese i Jackův otec, městský šerif v Taftu, který se snaží udržet pořádek a klid, když na zem začnou padat první úlomky meteoritu. Život na Zemi se brzy změní v hrůzu a paniku...

The US arsenal being nearly exhausted, the Chinese join, the Russians must be tricked. Vindictive Calvin Stark escapes and gets hold of Jenny, so Jack pursues them all his murderous way to Taft. There his dad the sheriff must control panic after the nuclear power station is hit, and help them face Calvin. Michael gets in even more danger because of ma's foolish instructions, dad and a fireman heroically come to the rescue.
