Di cosa parla Destiny of the Shrine Maiden?
Kannazuki no Miko inizia nel villaggio di Mahoroba, dove vivono due studentesse della prestigiosa Accademia Ototachibana, due ragazze differenti come il giorno e la notte. Himeko è timida e trascurata, mentre Chikane è audace ed elegante. Nonostante queste differenze, le due fanciulle si amano, e nulla sembra essere in grado di dividerle. Nel giorno del loro del loro compleanno, però, il sole improvvisamente si oscura e un demone versione robot compare per ucciderle. Le due ragazze, però, scoprono di essere, rispettivamente, la sacerdotessa del Sole e quella della Luna; e dopo aver scacciato il demone dovranno impegnarsi in una lotta per cercare di fermare il risveglio di un dio malvagio che vive sulla Luna e che vuole distruggere il mondo.

After Himeko strikes Chikane's chest with her sword, they share a tender moment which ultimately reveals the unpleasant past the two Priestesses have shared in their past lives and how Chikane only pretended to want to kill her as to pay the cost this time around. The Orochi are finally defeated and everything goes back to normal, but at a price the two Priestesses were not ready to accept. At the end of the credits, a special ending is revealed which shows Himeko and Chikane being reunited.
